About Seth C. Weston
I am a seasoned trial attorney who has been providing legal advice throughout Roanoke County, Roanoke City, the City of Salem, Franklin County, Bedford County, Botetourt County and courts throughout Southwest Virginia for more than a decade. But, I have been protecting citizen’s rights for even longer.
Prior to becoming a criminal defense attorney, I served in the U.S. Marine Corps and earned the rank of Sergeant with the Metropolitan Police Department of Washington D.C. Then, I worked as a prosecutor in Roanoke City before finally becoming a criminal defense attorney in the greater Roanoke area, where I tried cases in the Juvenile and Domestic Relations District Courts, General District Courts, and Circuit Courts of the Commonwealth of Virginia.
My unique background and training have provided me with invaluable insight and an uncommon ability to resolve serious legal problems for all of my clients. Since I have been both a police officer and prosecutor, I have courtroom credibility and trial experience that few can match. Having served on both sides of the courtroom and as a witness as a police officer, the only seat I have left to fill is that of Judge.
Since becoming a criminal defense attorney, I have represented countless clients accused of committing criminal offenses. I appear regularly in the United States federal courts in southwest Virginia and had a case granted certiorari by the United States Supreme Court. I currently serve as President of the Criminal Board, and as past President of the Virginia Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers.
My approach to law, in general, is informed by my unique life experience and training. I am often able to use this to guide clients to achieve solutions to problems that seem irreconcilable at the outset of the case. As a former police officer, Sergeant and Internal Affairs Agent, I know how to investigate and find evidence to substantiate your claim and help create reasonable doubt in criminal cases.
During my nearly twelve years with the Metropolitan Police Department, I received numerous honors and awards, including being recognized and awarded as a “Top Cop” by the National Association of Police Organizations for my investigative work. I continue to apply my strong investigative skills and reasoning to my cases to find factual support for the client’s case.
Given all these accomplishments, I am most proud of my beautiful wife and three children. I enjoy spending time with them and going to their activities, as well as hunting, fishing, shooting firearms, camping, and most all outdoor activities.
